Designer Debate... Which designer handbags are worth the investment?

Most women love a nice handbag. We are no different.

Hot "it" bags definitely catch our attention and we have certainly fallen in love with some of these "of the moment bags" recently. If you've seen our insta lately, you've surely seen Alexandra's beautiful and bright falabella fringe bag by Stella McCartney.

We also have shown some love for Marc Jacobs, and Tory Burch recently, but when it comes down to really investing in a timeless handbag, Stella, Marc, and Tory, just don't seem to make the cut for us.

An "it" bag, may last you a couple of years if you're lucky, but after that it will spend more time in the closet than hanging off of your shoulder. As lovers of fashion, we wouldn't have it any other way. Fashion goes in cycles, with current trends eventually taking a back seat to emerging designs. That's what makes it all so exciting. Unfortunately, that's what also makes loading up on seasonal statement bags, a very poor long term investment. Now, I'm no finance major but it doesn't take a CFA to figure out that a $1,700 bag, sitting in your closet after a season or two is not the best way to spend your hard earned money.

But what if your $1,700 dollar bag (or wallet, clutch, etc.) wasn't taking early retirement on a shelf in the closet, but instead was coming out and looking FAB season, after season, year after year? This is where it pays to spend a little more upfront, and have the comfort of knowing you will get years of mileage from your purchase.

When it comes to investing, I happen to be partial to Chanel. Alexandra thinks that Louis Vuitton is a better option. While Chanel bags and accessories are some of the priciest, the signature quilting , customer service, and overall quality of their bags, are more than worth it. Chanel bags symbolize timeless elegance and are appropriate for someone of any age. I love seeing older women, at church or out and about with their gorgeous Chanel flap bags There is no way of knowing if it's an old fave, or a new addition, because of how well Chanel's craftmanship holds up.

Alexandra argues that Louis Vuitton bags are the go-to investment worthy choice. She finds them to be a more wearable option that can be dressed up or dressed down, regardless of whether you choose the classic monogram or damier. She also points out that while a classic Chanel flap bag will run you about $4,900 USD, the iconic Louis Vuitton "Speedy" can be had for less than $1,000 USD making the LV option much more "bang for your buck".

We can't seem to see eye to eye on this one and are hoping we can get some help on settling the debate. What's your vote? Chanel or Louis Vuitton? You can vote on our instagram page as well or by sharing your own Chanel or LV bag and tagging as with #labelwhorechic.

In the meantime check out some of our favorites from our personal collections.
